PumpTrooper® Lift Stations: Engineered for Reliable, Cost‑Effective Water Management

PumpTrooper® Lift Stations: Engineered for Reliable, Cost‑Effective Water Management

August 22, 2025

In today’s fast-changing infrastructure landscape, communities and industries need wastewater and stormwater systems that are not just effective, but also fast to deploy, durable, and low maintenance. NWPX is meeting that need with its PumpTrooper® Lift Stations. These are advanced, pre‑engineered pumping solutions designed for dependable fluid transfer and seamless integration into new or existing networks.

Designed for Performance and Simplicity

Developed by NWPX’s expert engineering team, the PumpTrooper® Lift Station features a flexible design customizable to the precise requirements of each project. Every unit arrives onsite fully assembled and factory tested, reducing installation time and preventing jobsite delays.

These packaged systems are built for rapid integration, often avoiding the need for extensive excavation or pipeline replacements. With their plug‑and‑play design, PumpTrooper® units connect quickly to gravity-fed systems and begin operating almost immediately, bringing both short-term convenience and long-term efficiency to a project.

How PumpTrooper® Lift Stations Work

The PumpTrooper® system is an essential part of wastewater and stormwater infrastructure. Here’s a quick step-by-step of its fully automated operation:

  • Inflow: Influent gravity flows into the wet well which collects wastewater or stormwater.
  • Sensor activation: Lead ‘On’ Float or non-contact sensors monitor the water level in the wet well.
  • Pumping process: When the water reaches a set level, the sensors activate one or more pumps to move the wastewater or stormwater upwards out of the wet well and to the next downstream location.
  • Backflow prevention: Built-in check valves stop water from flowing back into the system.
  • Controlled operation: Once the water drops to a predetermined low level, the pumps automatically shut off.
  • Pump rotation: For Lift stations that contain multiple pumps, each additional pump will have a corresponding Lag ‘On’ Float, which will turn on the Lag pump to allow both pumps to run at once if one cannot keep up with the flow. The pumps alternate starts to ensure even wear and extend equipment life.
  • Safety backup: Optional alarms and backup power protect against flooding, system failure, and power outages.

Automated Controls and Communications

PumpTrooper® Lift Stations include a centralized control system that monitors wastewater level, pressure, and flow rate. In addition to standardized visual and audio alerts, NWPX offers a web and mobile app that continually monitors pump activity and two-way communications enable remote control functionality.

Applications Across Diverse Industries

PumpTrooper® Lift Stations are built for wastewater and stormwater conveyance across a wide range of industries. They are commonly deployed in residential neighborhoods, commercial properties, industrial facilities, agricultural operations, sewage and treatment plants, as well as recreational areas.

Built-In Advantages for Long-Term Value

PumpTrooper® Lift Stations offer a series of key advantages, each of which contributes to their reliability and ease of use:

  • Automated operation for continuous reliability: The automatic control system ensures consistent performance with minimal human intervention.
  • Safety-first design: Hatchways include integrated safety nets, protecting maintenance staff during inspections or servicing.
  • Environmental and operational protection: Prevents excessive odors, flooding, and overflow.
  • Advanced monitoring: The control panel enables operators to monitor system performance and includes both visual and audible alarms for rapid response to maintenance issues.

Built for the Future of Water Management

With more than 50 years of industry expertise, NWPX has refined the PumpTrooper® Lift Station into a solution that addresses challenges in wastewater and stormwater conveyance. Designed, built, and assembled in the United States, every system reflects a commitment to quality, safety, and environmental stewardship. Whether for a small residential neighborhood or a large industrial site, NWPX ensures that every PumpTrooper® unit is built to serve efficiently for years to come.

In wastewater and stormwater management, reliability is non‑negotiable. Downtime, inefficiency, and costly maintenance are liabilities no project can afford. PumpTrooper® Lift Stations deliver a reliable, scalable, and cost‑effective alternative, ready to go the moment they arrive onsite. With their comprehensive design, seamless integration, and minimal maintenance demands, they allow project owners to focus on growth, not repairs.
